What: Sacramento Chinese Culture Foundation—2008 Chinese New Year of the Rat Celebration

When: February 9

Where: Student Union, Sacramento State campus, 6000 J St., Sacramento

Time: 11 a.m.–10 p.m.

Cost: Tickets $1–$5

Why:  What better way to spend a date than to honor a holiday steeped in traditions celebrating a fresh start, family and friends.
Festivities include lion dance, a traditional Chinese dance said to bring luck and protection from evil spirits, arts and crafts, entertainment, food, health consultations, games and more.
